Pop and Celebrate!
Monday, January 26, is National Bubble Wrap® Appreciation Day
AVON, Ohio, January 26, 2004 – Many people use it to protect fragile
items. Others use it to cushion a package or a gift. Some even use it
as a stress reliever or noisemaker.
No matter what practical or off-the-wall use you have for Bubble Wrap®,
the popular packaging material is being celebrated nationally on
Monday, January 26, 2004 – the Fourth Annual National Bubble Wrap®
Appreciation Day.
Since its invention in 1960, Bubble Wrap has been used by and
entertained people of all ages. In a recent survey:
* 91 percent of respondents said they use Bubble Wrap when
packaging fragile items to be shipped
* 92 percent said they enjoy popping Bubble Wrap
* More than 76 percent of respondents enjoy popping Bubble Wrap
because they like the sound it makes, while 71 percent said
they like the way it feels to pop Bubble Wrap
“I think most people have received a gift that has been packaged in
Bubble Wrap Cushioning. Sometimes the Bubble Wrap is a better present
than the gift itself,” said Traci Finkelmeier, category manager for
DuckTM brand Bubble Wrap® Cushioning at Henkel Consumer Adhesives, Inc.
“Not only are there many functional and fun uses, but who can resist
the temptation to pop it?”
Bubble Wrap cellular material was originally invented by Sealed Air
Corporation for use as a plastic wallpaper with paper backing, but
creative minds at the company eventually discovered its usefulness in
packaging. “Because of it’s superior cushioning performance, Bubble
Wrap revolutionized the packaging world,” stated by Bill Hickey,
President of Sealed Air. Bubble Wrap has grown to become a pop icon
brand.
